Young CA Writers' Project
The Mime Troupe is thrilled to have inherited this very successful education program from the Magic Theatre! For the past 15 years, the Young California Writers' Project (YCWP) has provided high school students with the opportunity to work with local playwrights in the development of their own short plays. Peers identify the top nine scripts from among the final bunch, and these are ultimately brought to life by professional actors and directors in public staged readings at a local theatre.

With support from the California Arts Council, the Mime Troupe started a new session of YCWP at San Francisco's Balboa High School this fall. We are continuing this program with the same staff of artists as when the Magic oversaw YCWP, and in collaboration with the same administrators and teachers at Balboa, who have come to view this program as a vital highlight in their students' academic year. A staged reading of the students' top plays will be performed an directed by adult professionals on
Monday, December 14th. The program is free, and the public is welcome to attend!
